Principal Certification : Robert Morris University

Principal Certification Program

Building Better Educators by Focusing on the Student

School leaders are critical to the success of schools and the educational system.  The RMU-LEAD Principal Certification Program engages experienced educators in collaborative coursework and internships in order to prepare them for the challenges of school leadership.

Students with at least two years of teaching may apply.  The Principal Certification Program begins in the summer with a Principal Preparation Seminar, and is followed by a sequence of four internship courses that allows the candidate to experience the full-year life cycle in a school or school district. The program can be taken as part of the 30-credit Master of Science in Instructional Leadership for those seeking to earn their MS degree or as a stand-alone PDE certification.

Why Choose RMU for your Certification Program?

All Principal Certification Candidates will be assigned to a mentor principal from the participating school, and a university supervisor from the teaching faculty at Robert Morris. The focus of the program is on the eight domains associated with school leadership: organizational leadership, instruction and assessment, standards-aligned curriculum development, teacher evaluation, budget and finance, school law, collaboration/communication, and school/community relations.
